Mandatory Modifier Enhancement: Add ability to toggle off Quantity for certain items/ Allow prefixes be assigned quantity
From the linga platform we are given 2 options to use for modifier quantity:
- The default quantity, which shows as a stepper on online order and is not available on the custom app. (This is quoted to be fixed in the coming month).
- Use Prefixes to indicate quantity as a price. This method makes ordering more intuitive to customers; it also makes modifications more noticeable on printed labels for employees but does not allow for the limitation of quantity. These are common to use as whole numbers often do not accurately portray servings in various restaurant industries.
Requirement Priority:
- We need to have the option to turn off quantity from mandatory modifier Groups. Certain groups do not require quantity to be assigned such as Temperature, Sweet Level, pizza type, bun type, cook style, etc.
- An alternative available is we could use included modifier groups however this still presents an issue to us. We use drink labels to keep track of what orders are being made since included modifiers automatically print each time it would overcrowd the labels. We need to be able to toggle off the print if the default modifier(meaning if the customer did not add a prefix) so that we can avoid overcrowding the label.
- A flexible solution where we can use prefixes to determine quantity would be ideal for all of your clients, this is because prefixes give descriptive value. If there was a toggle that allowed us to turn off(and/or) let us change from the quantity function to allow prefixes, then certain modifier groups where whole numbers do not quite make sense for quantity can be better controlled based on the determined Min/Max of the modifier groups.
- Examples here would be for us We allow a max Add-on(each add-on is a modifier on a mandatory modifier group) limit of 4 to drinks. For each Add-On we could use a prefix of 1-Scoop and assign that a quantity value of 1, 2-Scoops would be a quantity Value of 2, etc. Using prefixes we can describe how our servings work and give the quantity value as well. Another popular example would be in Pizza. Prefixes are commonly used here as Light, Regular, Extra. It is very common to limit Toppings on pizza as weight on dough affects baking and damages quality. If you look at 3 of the most popular Pizza OLO platforms(Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns) they actually already have this function.
