Void an item after partial payment

We would like the ability to void an item after a payment has been made on a check. Sometimes a portion of the check is paid for, but the other portion needs to be voided (not comped). Currently we're unable to do this. We would like the ability to do voids even if there is a payment on the check.

Is there any progress made on this? I have the same request coming from a customer who frequently does large groups and when they split the check by seat they run into this.  If a seat pays for their check and leaves, the server can no longer void an item off of any of the other seats because the payment has been made. I have told them they should split the check by check instead of by seat to help, but there are legitimate situations where it would make sense to be able to void an item off of a seat even if another seat has already paid.

Checking on this again. I had the merchant reach out again and said this is becoming a real headache for them. The split by check instead of by seat is not a real option for them as it causes other headaches in the kitchen. Let me know.

Checking on this. I continue to get requests for this. I have shown them how to comp and item, but it would be nice to be able to void an item even when part of the check is paid. For example, split by seat and one guest pays and leaves, we need to be able to void an item from another seat.

Yes, I run into this with just about every customer. I have used discounts as a workaround for now.

Yes, we have been getting beat up about it for a couple of years. We have trained around it using Split By Check in stead of Split By Seat and even used Discounts to allow items to be void. Looking forward this feature being added.

This would be a life saver. Dealing with larger bills on Linga is a nightmare, only because if someone made a partial payment and left with the Credit Card, the whole order gets messed up.

I have basically been disabling the split by seat feature and only using the split by check option for this exact reason. There is an option/button to split the checks up by seat (once you select split by check and get to the split screen) as well so it works pretty well and most of my customers like it.  Then they can work with multiple checks at the same table independently.

I see this as "Planned" 3 Years ago and then "Started" 1 year ago and now "Planned" 8 months ago... As you can see by all the replies and comments this is very much needed and is brought up by every single merchant at some point...

Could we get some communication on the progress of this request?

Checking on this again. We are running into this frequently. Recently, we installed Linga at a bar and they do pre-auth bar tabs. If they pre-auth the Bar Tab, they're not able to void an item from the check without removing the pre-auth payment.

Pinging this again. This is becoming a big issue with places that want to do pre-auth tabs and it's making us not want to recommend Linga in those situations. To a merchant, it makes no sense. We have created a discount/comp as a workaround, but it would be great to get a solution for this.

it amazes me how many years ago this request was imitated and Linga has still not done anything about it. The company that sold me Linga no longer recommends it as a point of sale system. Very sad that we have invested so much time, and money, in this system and there are still multiple ‘issues’.
